Topographic Maps

A topographic or contour map shows the shape of the Earth. The contour lines connect points of the same elevation. This week we will focus on how to analyze and interpret a contour map. We will also construct topographic profiles or cross sections of mapped terrains. Topographic maps include information about the three dimension length, width, and height of a region. A profile shows the elevation of the land along a particular baseline.
