Chemical weathering usually requires water to bring about mineral changes. Heat also speeds most chemical weathering. Thus, chemical weathering takes place most rapidly in warm moist climates. In the next few days, we will look at how rock weathering largely depends on local climate and on how soils form. 

The class will focus on describing and defferentiating between physical and chemical weathering by using written word, graphs, tables, diagrams and pulling together key factors that affect the weathering process. This task will be accomplished in about one week as measured by class work, homework and a quiz. Homework : due Friday, February 6, 2009 In textbook: read pages 258-263. Do questions 1-7 on page 263. Answer questions in complete sentences.
